unboxing: Birchbox November 2014

Most boxes I subscribe to are either fair-trade items or green beauty items. Birchbox is my one exception that sends out a mix of green and not-so-green beauty items, but I just can't give it up!

Cost: $10 + free U.S. S&H, less with an annual  subscription

I upgraded with Birchbox Plus this month, so my box shipped within this larger box this month. It was shipped via DHL Global Mail on November 10th and was delivered by USPS to my mailbox today.

"This pouch is socially conscious every step of the way. The 100% cotton fabric was woven in Guatemala through Mercado Global, a company that connects local artisans to worldwide markets, helping break the cycle of poverty. The next step on its journey was Opportunity Threads, an eco-friendly co-op in North Carolina, where the fabric was turned into the chic zippered number you're holding now. Both brands are supported by the We See Beauty Foundation, a nonprofit that invests in worker-owned businesses. Good news: 10% of your purchase on Birchbox.com goes toward the Foundation's programs."

When Birchbox released their upgrade options for the month, I seriously had to have this! It is a $30 value that I got for $20, and is perfect for me!

This month, Birchbox partnered with (RED) to raise AIDS awareness. For every picture subscribers share tagged with #shaRED, Birchbox will donate $1. You better believe I'll be sharing pics of mine!

The theme of this month's box is Giving Back. I love that :).

I got five beauty items this month, plus an extra snack item. I confess to being a little confused with what I received though, since I reserved the Juice Beauty Peel, not the Royal Apothic mask. Oh, well, I don't plan to e-mail CS. I have a feeling this mask will be a popular swap item I can put towards something I want.

Nothing here for me. The one thing that kind of redeems it for me is that I acknowledge the tea mask has a higher retail value than the peel I wanted. I hate to be a downer, but I do prefer greener products than these.

For a little bitty lippie, this one is worth more than I would have thought!

These were absolutely delicious, so crispy and light :)! Is it bad that the only box item I really liked this month is this extra snack?

My box this month had a total retail value of $28.59. Worth about three times what I paid for it, the value is definitely there, though I do wish I could have gotten just one green beauty item. Oh well! I adore my new pouch, my snack was tasty, and I truly love the (RED) collaboration, so I guess this month was made great for me by those reasons :)!

Disclosure: I am not sponsored by or affiliated with any brand mentioned. This box was paid for by eco Beauty on eBay. All opinions are my own!
