unboxing: Birchbox December 2014

Birchbox is one of the original beauty box subscriptions, and at $10 or less per month it is one of the most affordable. They include a mix of green items, not so green, as well as the occasional lifestyle or edible item.

Cost: $10 + free U.S. S&H for a month-to-month plan, less for a yearly plan, plus there are usually deals available for a discount, gift with purchase or bonus points with annual plan purchases.

Apparently I'm bubbly, I never knew ;). My box shipped via Newgistics on December 4th, and found it's way to my mailbox two days ago, on December 10th.

The Birchbox box within a box, and this one is so festive, much prettier than the plain brown one that is usual!

The theme of this month's box is "Decked Out".

This month I received seven different product samples plus a gift card. Good haul :)!

The Green

W3LL People Bio Brightener Stick Amount not indicated, but W3LL People sells samples on their site for $1.50, so that's the value I'll use.
Number 4 L'eau de Mare Hydrating Conditioner 0.25 oz foil sample value $1.06

The W3LL People sample was my choice this month and easily the item I'm most excited for! I indeed have very fine hair, so although I may or may not use the hair oil, I appreciate that it was matched to my hair type. Number 4 is not a strictly natural brand, and browsing the ingredient lists for these two items, I see some questionable ingredients. They are, however, vegan, cruelty-free, and do not contain gluten, parabens, sulfates or any other potentially hazardous ingredients. I don't shampoo or condition, but that should count for something :).

The Not So Green

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream 3 mL: You can actually get three tubes of this size free on Yu-Be's website, only pay S&H if that is all that is ordered, but I will just use the value of $0.52 calculated from the full size.
Miracle Skin Transformer Miracle Revival Mud Mask 0.25 oz foil sample value $2.45

Into the swap pile these go!

$10 Gap gift card. I had to go to Gap's website and use my Birchbox e-mail, and they sent me a no-strings-attached gift card to use in store, no minimum purchase required!

My box this month has a good retail value of $21.29, plus I'll get points for reviewing the items on Birchbox's website! I'm really excited to try the W3LL People sample (one of my favorite brands!) and getting a $10 gift card makes it like all the samples are just a free bonus! Cool! Thanks for an awesome month, Birchbox!
