unboxing: Fair Treasure October 2014

Green beauty is not my only obsession; I am also crazy for unique, fair-trade and handcrafted art pieces. I absolutely love my subscription to Fair Treasure who delivers 2-3 gorgeous pieces to my mailbox every month.

Fair Treasure
November 2014
unboxing

Cost: I currently pay $35 to subscribe monthly, but am thinking of upgrading to a longer-term prepaid subscription to save money.

Fair Treasure ships DHL, so it is delivered by USPS. Mine shipped on October 2nd and I received it today.

First look and I am so excited! My treasures made it to me safe and sound.

The theme of this month's box is appreciating the vivacious energy of autumn. I love this quote they included on the card:

"October gave a party; The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples, And leaves of every name.
The sunshine spread a carpet, And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band."
~ George Cooper

Also, Fair Treasure included an info card announcing the launch of their new online shopping experience later this month. I can't wait to see what surprises they will have and will make a post sharing my experience with it!

Now on to my treasures!

This bowl is gorgeous! Look at it from the side, too, below.

Since these items have more story behind them than beauty items I usually receive,  I would really like to share the info I received from Fair Treasure on them.

"Craft Link, a nonprofit organization, works with Vietnamese artisans, 85% of whom are women, with a focus on ethic minorities, street children and artisans with disabilities. Craft Link helps artisan groups design new products and develop marketing opportunities. Artisans working with Craft Link receive tools, interest-free loans, education,  training and literacy classes.

This beautiful bamboo bowl is handmade by the artists at Craft Link. Producing coiled bamboo items is a multi-stage process. After 10 days of soaking to soften the wood, bamboo strips are coiled around a bowl form and dried. Bowls are then sanded, stained and polished."

I appreciate how much work must have went into this gorgeous bowl, and can't wait to use it, maybe a salad bowl or to put decorations or jewelry in, I haven't decided yet!

Not only does this bracelet cover the cost of the Fair Treasure box, it is even more special because this particular color combination was made specially for Fair Treasure in celebration of October being fair-trade month.

"Each Akha Bracelet is hand-beaded, combining vegan leather and hammered brass with semi-precious crystals and beads. The cuff in your box is a custom design, with the autumnal color combination only available to Fair Treasure subscribers.

The Akha people are indigenous to Southeast Asia and live throughout Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Eastern China. The artisan collective employs over one hundred crafts people, and offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, giving people much-needed employment opportunities along with the ability to manage their households."

This bracelet is absolutely gorgeous and I just love it! Maybe the new Fair Treasure store will have a deal on more of these for gifting!

The retail value for this box is $50.49, but the introduction to beautiful and meaningful items is priceless to me. This is one of my favorite subscriptions and I can't wait to see their online shopping program!

Disclosure : I am not sponsored by or affiliated with any brand mentioned. This box was paid for by eco Beauty on eBay. All opinions are my own!
